GLVC Tournament Run Ends in Semis Loss

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis Women's Soccer Team fell to Southern Indiana in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship in overtime 1-0.

"We battled against a physical USI side and were able to play our game and create so many chance," said Head Coach Holly Cox. "I am so proud of this group of ladies, they left it all out there tonight."
 
The team will end it's season with an overall record of 11-4-1 and a conference record of 10-3-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless 95 minutes of physicality and toughness from both teams, USI's Taylor McCormick scored the game winner for the Screagles.
 
Greyhound goalie Makaiah Haberkorn posted a stellar 12 saves in only her third game as a goalkeeper in her career. To kick off Haberkorn's career as a goalkeeper she posted 17 total saves on the season off of 38 shots faced.

"She was an absolute legend tonight between the posts," Cox added. "She made some amazing saves to take us to overtime."
 
The Greyhounds were led by their two All-GLVC first teamers, Dana Youssef and Taylor Peck. Youusef, the GLVC Defensive Player of the Year, posted six shots, four of which were on goal. Peck posted four shots, two of which were on goal.

"Dana showed us why she was chosen as defender of the year tonight," Mentioned Cox. "She was a rock back there." 
 
Madelyn Juenger led the offensive charge for USI with six shots and four on goal. Maya Etienne took the win in goal for Southern Indiana posting six saves in 95:23.
 
IN'S AND OUTS
-The Hounds were outshot both in shots and SOG, with USI posting 25 shots and 13 on goal to UIndy's 15 shots and six on goal.
- USI took the reins on corner kicks with four to one.
- The game was a physical one with UIndy committing 17 fouls and drawing 13.

"We take tonight as a an opprortunity to become a better team," said Cox. "We learn from our mistakes and allow it to fuel us to achive more next season."
