COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5 UIndy softball team (34-4) endured a slim 4-3 defeat at non-conference Ohio Dominican Wednesday afternoon. The Greyhounds threatened in the seventh but could not complete the comeback.
 
Game two was ultimately canceled in the second inning after multiple lightning delays.

The Panthers pushed across three runners in the fourth inning, all with two outs. A double and a homer accounted for the runs, staking the home team to a three-run lead.
 
UIndy responded immediately with a single tally in the top of the fifth, and later made a serious threat in the seventh, putting two on with nobody out. But the Hounds managed just one more run on an RBI groundout from Gianni Iannantone, as the Panthers escaped with a 4-3 win.
 
Senior Hallie Waters (17-2) took the loss in the circle – just her second of the season. Haylie Foster came on the finish the game, pitching 2 1/3 scoreless. Sydnie Foster scored twice, while Iannantone drove in all three UIndy runs.
 
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return home for the final weekend of the regular season. They will host a noon doubleheader on both Saturday and Sunday, hosting Maryville and Lindenwood, respectively.
