Hounds Sweep Tritons; Remain Undefeated in GLVC

ST. LOUIS – The #9 University of Indianapolis softball team extended their win streak to 13 on Saturday with a pair of road wins at University of Missouri-St. Louis.  The Hounds remain undefeated in conference play with a 5-0 and 10-1 win over the Tritons.

Game 1 | UIndy 5, UMSL 0
The Hounds plated their first run in the top of the second with Hanna Burris drawing a walk with the bases loaded.  UIndy added insurance runs in the final two innings with a pair of home runs.  Haylie Foster led off the sixth with a solo home run while Emily O'Connor blasted a three-run homer in the top of the seventh.

O'Connor finished game three three-for-four at the plate with three runs driven in and two runs scored.

Hallie Waters dazzled in her 11th win of the season, striking out 12 while holding the Tritons to just three hits and zero runs.  She currently has a 20-inning scoreless streak.

Game 2 | UIndy 10, UMSL 1
UMSL scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first before the Hounds responded with 10 unanswered runs.  With two outs in the third, Gianni Iannantone doubled to center, allowing Sydnie Foster to score from first.  O'Connor followed that up with a single to right center, scoring Iannantone and putting the Hounds ahead 2-1.

The Hounds plated three runs in the both the fourth and fifth inning.  Taylor Danielson ripped a one run double and Kamrie Foster drove in two with a single to right field in the fourth.  Back to back single from Sydnie Foster and Brooke Montgomery plated a trio of runs in the fifth.  UIndy scored their final two runs in the 10th with Foster and Montgomery going back-to-back once again, this time with a pair of doubles.

Kenzee Smith picked up her 9th win of the season in the circle, striking out six while holding the Tritons to one run off of three hits in a complete game performance.

Sydnie Foster went a perfect four-for-four in game two with four runs scored and two drive in.  Danielson finished two-for-three with three runs scored and one driven in.

UP NEXT
The Hounds return home this week for a midweek non-conference doubleheader against Lake Erie on Wednesday.  UIndy returns to GLVC action next weekend, travelling to Truman on Saturday and William Jewell on Sunday.
