ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - After landing the No. 1 rank in the recent IWLCA poll, the UIndy women's lacrosse team (8-0, 2-0 GLVC) traveled west for a pair of games over the weekend. Their first stop was against the Missouri Western Griffons (2-6, 0-2 GLVC) on Friday night, the Greyhounds ending the contest with a dominant 26-5 final score. Peyton Romig shattered her own program record, the Carthage, N.Y., native tallied 22 draw controls for a new top mark in a single game.
INS & OUTS
In the contest's first 35 minutes of action, the Greyhounds totaled a whopping 21-1 deficit on Missouri Western. That timespan was owned by Marin Felsoci on the offensive end, the senior knocked in four goals for the Greyhounds, making her season total in the double digits at 10 this season. Felsoci wouldn't be the only Hound to collect five points on the night, as Mackenzie Winn spread her team-high five points across three goals and a pair of assists against the Griffons. Sarah Klein was the final Greyhound to garner five points, flipping Winn's totals with a pair of goals and three assists in the contest. UIndy had five other student-athletes record at least two points in the game, including a pair of points from Emily Guenther (one goal, one assist) and Christina Sato (two goals).
The Greyhounds collected 29 draw controls in the win on Friday night, that mark besting the program record at Lewis on March of the 2019 season. Romig's 22 highlighted the total; as Riley McClure (four), Kara Antonucci (one), Madison Phillips (one) and Joey Fowler (one). Felsoci would be the team's top collector in ground balls, the Arvada, Co., native posted five against Missouri Western. Gunneson and Klein each recorded three ground balls, while McClure and Cassidy King were the only other student-athletes to find a pair in the category.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach James Delaney on the roster's depth this season …
"We have a ton of talented players on this roster and it's exciting that on any given day, we can have players step up and make plays for our offense. It was great having a ton of complimenting scoring, which is going to be a key as we get down the stretch this season."
Peyton Romig on her record-setting performance …
"As a team, we knew we had to come out relentless and play hard for the entire 60 minutes. We were able to work as a whole unit through the transitions, which we showcased a few times this game. On the draw, I know that the team counts on me, but also the others in the draw unit to be able to get possessions to show our talent as a team."
