INS & OUTS
In a contest featuring two
All-GLVC First Team pitchers, the game remained scoreless until the Hounds broke the stalemate with a pair of tallies in the top of the fifth.
Brooke Montgomery and
Kamrie Foster each delivered RBI singles in the frame – both with two outs – to stake the Hounds to a 2-0 lead.
Â
The Hawks (26-14) would answer in the sixth with their own two-out rally. After a couple of fly balls started the inning, Rockhurst applied pressure with a single and a walk, setting the stage for Josie Lindemann. The all-conference utility player connected on a 1-0 offering, sending it over the center field fence in what proved to be the game winner.
Â
Senior slugger
Taylor Danielson nearly tied it in the top of the seventh, but her deep fly ball was caught at the warning track.
Â
One day after tossing a
perfect game, Rockhurst senior Lexie Storrer (21-4) got the pitching win, striking out 13 Greyhounds in the process. Meanwhile, freshman
Kenzee Smith (19-2) took the loss – just her second of the year.
