TEMPE, AZ - Following the conclusion of the 2021 season, the ITA released their final Regional rankings of the season this week. Both the University of Indianapolis men's and women's tennis team hold the top spot in the Midwest Region.
The women claimed the No. 1 spot after a dominating performance in the Midwest Regional. The Hounds have five individuals ranked in the Top 20 in singles including the top three slots.
Nikol Alekseeva sits in first followed by
Anna Novikova and
Alina Kislitskaya.
Kristina Lagoda snuck into the Top 10 with a No. 7 ranking while
Maria Solnyshkina sits at No. 12.
The Hounds also took the two two spots in the final doubles rankings. The duo of Alekseeva and Novikova earned the No. 1 ranking while Kislitskaya and Lagoda sit at No. 2.
On the men's side UIndy earned a No. 1 finish after claiming their 5th Midwest Regional title. In singles action
Renato Lima finishes at No. 2 while
Tom Zeuch is right behind at No. 3.
The men also claimed the top two spots in doubles play. Zeuch and
Yoann Viel sit atop the rankings while Lima and
Maximilian Witthaus come in at No. 2.
In last week's final ITA National Rankings, both team finished in the Top 10. The women finished at No. 2 in the country while the men came in at No. 7.
