Hounds Fall to UMSL in GLVC Showdown

INDIANAPOLIS – In a battle of two of the top teams in the GLVC, UIndy men's basketball saw their six game win streak come to an end on Monday at the hands of Missouri-St. Louis.  The 63-55 loss moves the Hounds to 10-4 on the year and 4-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In their first game in 11 days, UIndy jumped out of the gate quickly behind five points from Kendrick Tchoua in the first minute.  The first frame soon became a battle with six lead changes in the half and neither team leading by more than five points.

The Hounds held the Tritons scoreless for the last three minutes of the half.  Cory Miller Jr. drained a turnaround jumper in the final minute to put the Hounds ahead 26-25 at the break.

Jesse Bingham notched a driving layup midway thru the second half to put UIndy ahead by five before the Tritons stormed back with an 8-0 run to take a 40-37 lead.  UMSL led from then on, reaching a 10-point lead at the 5:14 mark on a fastbreak three-pointer.  The Hounds cut the deficit to seven with just over 90 seconds remaining but the comeback bid was too late.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Kendrick Tchoua paced the Hounds with 20 points and 14 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.  The sophomore shot 5-of-6 from the floor in the second half.
Cory Miller Jr. also reached double figures with 13 points.
Josiah Tynes led the defense with three steals.
- The Tritons won the board battle, 41-37, while also scoring 30 points in the paint.
