SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- The #7 Indianapolis Greyhounds moved to 2-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference wrestling action with a 33-7 win Sunday afternoon at #T24 Drury.
Noah Cantu started things off for the Hounds with a 3-2 win over Caden Howard at 125, with
Breyden Bailey following with a 6-4 win over #12 Brandon Borlinghaus at 133. After
Ray Rioux gave #8 Peter Kuster all he could handle in a narrow 1-0 loss at 141,
Brayden Lowery doubled the UIndy point total to 12 with a pin in 1:56 of Sam Schultz. Newly-minted #4
Dawson Combest put another three points on the board for the Hounds with a 4-2 win over Trevor Christian at 157.
With UIndy up 15-3 at the midway point, the host Panthers put up the remainder of their points with a major at 165. After an
Owen Butler 10-7 decision at 174,
Gleason Mappes and
Derek Blubaugh both put up bonus points in their matches. Mappes took a 10-2 major decision at 184, while #6 Blubaugh gave the Hounds five points with a 17-0 tech fall in 3:46 at 197. The dual ended with six more points for the Greyhounds with
Jay Thompson accepting a forfeit at 285.
The Greyhounds travel to #5 McKendree Wednesday to continue the GLVC slate. Action against the Bearcats will begin at 8 p.m. EST.
