Hounds Edged in Double OT

QUINCY, IL - The UIndy men's basketball team opened their Illinois road trip in nail biting fashion on Thursday night, falling to Quincy in double overtime.  Cory Miller Jr. and Kendrick Tchoua both recorded a double-double in the conference loss.

Miller Jr. paced the Hounds with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  It's the second straight game he's scored at least 20 points and the fourth time this season.  Tchoua added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the closing minutes of regulation Josiah Tynes notched back-to-back lay ups to give UIndy a five-point lead but the Hawks scored a lay up of their own with 13 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.  It marked the first overtime game of the season for UIndy and the first of head coach Paul Corsaro's career.

Back-to-back jumpers from Quincy put them ahead by four midway thru overtime before Dee Montgomery shot a perfect four-for-four at the charity stripe to tie the score at 73.  Trailing by three with 2 seconds on the clock, Tynes went to the line for the Hounds.  After making the first, he missed the second but Kendrick Tchoua's quick hands tipped the ball in and tied the game at 78 to force a second overtime.

The Hawks led by four with less than one minute remaining before Miller Jr. drove in for a lay up to cut the deficit to two.  The Hounds had two possessions in the final 14 seconds but were unable to find the basket.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jesse Bingham also scored over 20 points, finishing with 22 points and 6 rebounds.
- Turnovers proved costly for the Hounds as they committed 15 while allowing 20 points off turnovers.
- UIndy dominated the paint, outscoring the Hawks 50-24.

UP NEXT
UIndy closes out the road trip at Illinois Springfield on Saturday.  The Hounds were victorious in their meeting earlier this season by a score of 63-59.
