LOUISVILLE- The #8 UIndy wrestling team went 1-2 at the 2022 NWCA National Duals Thursday, with the program competing with a limited roster. 

#8 UINDY 25 - UNC-PEMBROKE 15
The Greyhounds (3-3) opened the event with a 25-15 win over the Braves, taking six of the 10 bouts in the dual.

After a UIndy forfeit at 125, Breyden Bailey made his debut at 133 pounds for the season, notching an 8-0 major decision over Anthony Carter. Two matches later, his brother #9 Logan Bailey picked up his first of two pins on the day, with a fall in 1:11 over Thomas Schock. 

The younger Bailey's pin at 149 seet off a streak of five straight wins for the Hounds, with two-time All-American Dawson Combest making his return to the UIndy lineup at 157 with a 10-2 major. At 165, Wade Monebrake pushed the score to 17-9 in favor of UIndy with a 4-2 decision, while #1 Andrew Sams put up five team points with a 15-0 tech fall of Rashaan Vareen at 174. Owen Butler then closed out the Greyhound scoring with a 7-4 decision at 184.

#2 ST. CLOUD STATE 33 - #8 UINDY 9
In their quarterfinal match, the #2 Huskies proved too much for the Greyhounds. Decisions from both Breyden and #9 Logan Bailey at 133 and 149, along with a 4-3 decsion from #1 Sams versus #4 Dominic Murphy at 174 accounted for the Greyhound scoring. 

#T18 MERCYHURST 38 - #8 UINDY 9
UIndy closed out its day with a loss to the Lakers, with Logan Bailey's pin of Alex Samson in 4:29 at 149 and Combest's 11-0 major of Vinny Catanzaro at 157 making up the scoring for the Hounds. 

UIndy returns to action next Thursday, heading into the Great Lakes Valley Conference portion of the schedule with a dual at Maryville Jan. 13. The Hounds will then play host to GLVC foes Sunday, Jan. 16, with William Jewell, Ouachita Baptist and Davenport coming to Indy for duals.
