Men’s Soccer Wins Region Battle Over Drury on Late Goal By Yilmaz

INDIANAPOLIS – Ibo Yilmaz from the University of Indianapolis men's soccer team scored a goal in the 79th minute of play to help lift the Greyhounds to a 1-0 victory over the Drury University Panthers.

Entering today, the Panthers ranked fourth in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Midwest Regional rankings while UIndy held the No. 10 spot. With this win, the Hounds now sit at 7-2-3 overall on the season with a 5-2-2 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half moved along as a defensive showdown, with neither team finding the scoreboard in the first 45 minutes. In total, the Hounds produced eight total shots while the Panthers had just three. The aggression was shown on each side as both team collected five fouls.

Similar to the opening frame, the second half produced another scoreless half of soccer until the 79th minute. On the scoring play, Bryan Moreira floated a cross into the box which deflected off the head of Michael Tselios towards the far side of the net. From there, Yilmaz met the loose ball with his own head and put it into the net for the game-winner.
