BOLIVAR, Mo – Seven hours away from the University of Indianapolis, the UIndy volleyball team got back in the win column with a 3-1 win over the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist. The win moves the team to 12-10 on the season, and more importantly, 5-3 in GLVC action.
INS AND OUTS
The Greyhounds jumped out on the offensive early in the contest, nabbing the first four points. That set the culture for the first set. The closest the score was in the first set besides the beginning was 17-15 in the Hounds favor. That score came off a 11-3 run by the Bearcats but UIndy persevered and made a final 8-2 run to close out the first set.
The Greyhounds stayed hot, going on a 10-2 run in the start of the second set with multiple kills by
Grace Hegwood getting the Hounds on the right foot. Just like set one, the Bearcats battled back eventually taking the lead 13-12. From that point it was a tight race to the finish, with Hegwood and
Sophia Parlanti combining for seven kills on route to a 24-26 second set dub.
Set three was yet another battle as the largest the lead ever got was four points, which the Hounds held three separate times. Quality runs by the Bearcats allowed them to squeak by the Greyhounds and force a fourth set. However, that set is when the Hounds cemented the win. An 8-0 run early in the match and a final 6-0 run proved the be the difference makers as
Elizabeth Eads took off in the final set, recoding six kills in the fourth.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Jason Reed on the win over SBU…
"Good fight and resilience tonight by our group. Nod to SBU on the defensive side of the ball. It was hard to put the ball down at times and that can be mentally challenging. We kept great composure throughout the match and finished really strong."
