SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis volleyball team travelled to Springfield, Mo. to take on the Panthers of Drury, losing the affair in straight sets. The loss moves the Greyhounds to 12-11 on the season and 5-4 in conference play.
INS AND OUTS
The first set was tight early, but a 7-1 run by Drury broke a 7-7 tie, putting the Greyhounds in a hole early. Kills by
Hannah Sabotin and
Sophia Parlanti attempted to fight off the Panthers, but the Hounds ended up dropping the set 25-20.
The Hounds kept the second set close throughout, digging out from an early 8-4 deficit. From that point the Hounds battled and battled, eventually evening the score at 14 apiece, with
Elizabeth Eads and Parlanti combining for a block to tie it up. Both teams refused to give up an inch, with the score knotted at 27-27, that was when the Panthers went on a final two point run to secure the second set.
The final set was another uphill battle, with the Panthers jumping out 7-2. That was the culture of the match as from that point the Greyhounds struggled to find ground, eventually falling 25-19.

- The Panthers led in service aces, 4-1.

Grace Hegwood once again led the Hounds in kills, finishing with nine on the day.
- Four separate Greyhounds recorded eight digs in the match.

The Greyhounds make their long-awaited return to the University of Indianapolis campus as they host the Missouri S&T Miners on Friday, Oct. 28. They start the action at 6 p.m.
