Greyhounds Run Away From Bulldogs in Monday Victory

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The No. 20 UIndy men's basketball team (5-1, 1-1 GLVC) returned to the win column on Monday evening, earning a huge 80-57 road victory at Truman (3-5, 0-2 GLVC) to wrap up its four-game road trip.

Kendrick Tchoua recorded his 10th career double-double in the win, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate Josiah Tynes also tallied 15 points for the second straight contest, adding five boards and a pair of steals against Truman.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman Sean Craig drilled his third 3-pointer of the night with 4:47 left in the opening half to give UIndy the lead for good. Bruno Williams and Tchoua each sunk a pair of free throws after a transition bucket from Jesse Bingham minutes later to help the Hounds grow their lead to 38-35 at halftime.

UIndy completely dominated the second half, outscoring Truman, 42-22, after the break. Ben Nicoson drilled each of his three triples in the final 11 minutes, while the team finished 13-of-27 from deep (including 8-of-14 in the second half).

Defensively, the Greyhounds allowed just 18 field goals, eight of which came from distance. UIndy forced seven turnovers in the final 20 minutes, with five different Hounds recording steals.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UIndy held Truman to under 65 points for the fifth time this season, with Monday's loss marking the fourth straight defeat for the Bulldogs.
- Tchoua went 6-for-9 from the field, while sinking 5-of-6 attempts from the charity stripe.
- Six different Greyhounds netted a 3-pointer in the win, including reserves Jarvis Walker and Williams.
- Bingham and Tchoua combined for six of the team's 11 offensive rebounds, resulting in 19 second-chance points.
- The Hounds turned the ball over just five times against the Bulldogs, the lowest since Feb. 17 against Missouri S&T last February.

MORE NOTES
UIndy has now won three of the last four meetings with Truman and lead the all-time series, 11-5 … Bingham has shot 50.0 percent from the field (or better) in half of the team's contests this winter, including each of the past two games.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach Paul Corsaro: "It's an awesome feeling to get our first GLVC win of the year. I'm very proud of our guys for responding after Saturday's performance in the way they prepared and responded like mature men. Tonight was a total team effort."

UP NEXT
UIndy returns home on Thursday, Dec. 1, when it hosts William Jewell from inside Nicoson Hall. Tipoff with the Cardinals is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Greyhounds lead the all-time series with the Cardinals, 10-1. The last time the teams met in on the south side of Indianapolis was Nov. 27, 2020, when Jewell pulled out a 70-69 win in Corsaro's first game as UIndy's bench boss.
