GREENSBORO, N.C.—The UIndy swimming & diving program will be sending 12 student-athletes to the prestigious Toyota U.S. Open Championships this week, held Wednesday through Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Greyhounds will be competing at the event for the third straight year, taking on some of the world's fastest swimmers.

"We are making log-course competition—national-, international-level competition—a priority. We continue to work to be a destination for individuals with those kinds of aspirations. It's important for us in building our team the right way to continue having swimmers and divers who are working to be on nationals teams, at Olympic trials, working towards international-level meets and teams, and so a meet like this is a big component to that.
 
"We need to swim long course. Most international meets are long-course meters, so to make those teams typically you have to qualify in long course. So we make it a priority on our team now because we have those kinds of people and we're going to continue recruiting that way; we're going to continue behaving that way because that's who we need to be."
