ST. LOUIS – A first half goal by
Michael Tselios wasn't enough for the No. 3-seeded
UIndy men's soccer team to collect a win in the
GLVC semifinal match against No. 2-seeded Lewis on Friday in St. Louis. The Greyhounds dropped the match by a 2-1 final and bow out of the 2022 conference tournament, now sitting with a 10-4-3 overall record on the year.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy grabbed the opening lead late in the first half in the 32nd minute off the free kick by
Tselios. Standing just outside the penalty box, the recent First Team
All-GLVC selection fired a ball that deflected off the left post and went past a diving goalkeeper. This was the only piece of scoring between the two squads in the opening 45 minutes.
Â
In the first half, the Hounds guided the offensive pace with six total shots while Lewis had just one.
UIndy also led with five corner kicks while the Flyers managed just one.
Â
Refusing to fold in the second half, Lewis added the equalizer in the 69th minute off a free kick of their own that also deflected off the post past the keeper. Then, the Flyers scored the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute on a shot at the top of the box.
