Hounds Overwhelm Cardinals with Big Second Half

LIBERTY, Mo. –The No. 15-ranked UIndy football team kept its perfect GLVC record intact, downing host William Jewell, 48-14, in the final road game of the regular season. The result ups the Greyhounds' record to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play, setting up a de facto GLVC title game versus Truman next weekend at Key Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds got off to a slow start, falling behind 7-0 early. The Cardinals had the ball late in the second quarter down just 17-14, but the UIndy defense forced a big three-and-out that led to a Greyhound field goal in the final minute of the half.

The Hounds came out of intermission with renewed purpose, ultimately running off 31 unanswered points to pull away. Jewell went the final 33 minutes of game time without scoring a single point.

The third quarter proved particularly damaging for the Cardinals, as the Hounds racked up 13 first downs and 198 total yards in the third period compared to zero first downs and a mere four yards of offenisve from Jewell in that span.

The Greyhounds' rushing attack once again drove the offense as seven UIndy ball carriers combined for 349 rushing yards and six TDs. JaQuan Buchanan and Lenny Bennett both went over 100 yards on the day.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Filling in for the injured Toriano Clinton, Buchanan continues to impress. He racked up 135 yards and three TDs on the ground Saturday. He has now amassed 11 TDs in the last three games combined.
-Four different Greyhounds – Jeremiah Lee, Buchanan, Bennett and Kellen Porter – scored a rushing touchdown in the second half.
-On the other side of the ball, seven different Hounds were credited with a tackle for a loss.
-UIndy forced four Jewell fumbles, with Kiave' Guerrier accounting for the only defensive recovery on the day.
-Kicker Colin Seymour made two field goals, including a season-long 39 yarder, while also going 6-for-6 on PATs.

MORE NOTES
The Greyhounds have won seven in a row versus Jewell and are now 9-1 all-time in the series … Today marked the final game in the 67-year history of Jewell's Greene Stadium.

UP NEXT
UIndy return home next Saturday, Nov. 12 for the regular season finale. The Hounds will host Truman State University for what could be one of the biggest games in recent program history. Both teams are 8-1 on the season with eyes on both the GLVC title and a spot in the DII playoffs.
