INDIANAPOLIS- The #7 UIndy Wrestling team finished second in the GLVC, falling to #5 McKendree, 19 - 14 in the league championship match Saturday afternoon at Lindenwood University.
The Greyhounds opened the day with a 52-0 win over William Jewell. The Greyhounds tallied bonus points in six of the matches wrestled enroute to the decisive win over the Cardinals.

Andrew Sams put up five team points with a tech fall at 174. Both

Dawson Combest (157) put up major decisions in their wins.
In the bracket semi finals, UIndy took on Maryville winning 28-14. Highlighting the match was
Gleason Mappes (184) with a pin at the 4:54 mark, avenging an earlier season loss.
In a rematch of a dual that came down to the final bout just two weeks ago, the GLVC Championship match between the #7 Greyhounds and #5 Bearcats again gave the fans all they could ask for. The leagues top two teams traded matches through the first four bouts, with the Bailey brothers putting together a decision and a major decision to knot the dual score at 7-7 heading to 157. After McKendree took wins at both 157 and 165, #1 Sams avenged a loss to McKendree rival Josh Jones from the regular season dual taking a 7-4 win at 174. After a narrow Greyhound loss at 184, #6 Blubaugh kept the team score within reach with a 10-2 major decision at 197. McKendree took the final bout of the dual to run the final team score to 19-14.
The Greyhounds look to the 2022 NCAA Super Region 4 tournament February 26. The event will be held at Lindenwood University, with the top three placers in each weight class advancing to the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships March 11-12 in St. Louis.
