INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis women's lacrosse team posted a 21-2 win over Frostburg State University on Sunday to earn a 2-0 record in opening weekend
With 12 draw controls on the day, graduate student
Peyton Romig not only reached 700 career draw controls, she also became the unofficial NCAA Division II career draw control leader with 695. The NCAA does not list career records draw control category. Mercy's Hunter Isnardi finished with 694 in 2019.
Abigail Lagos was the first to draw blood only 30 seconds into the game, Frostburg shot back a few minutes later – but then the Hounds dug in. Scoring five back-to-back unanswered goals putting them up 6-1 heading into the 2
nd.
They followed that up with a six goal, five goal third, and a four goal fourth to end the match up 21-2.
Lagos continued to show her dominance with seven goals and an assist, while
Sarah Klein posted four.
Mackenzie Winn,
Quinn Malcolm, and
Kylee Manser took a pair of goals to themselves also.
Romig led with 12 draw controls, followed by
Kara Antonucci who had seven.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Hounds forced 23 turnovers and only committed nine.

Audrey Moran and
Cassidy King split time in net with both making one save and Moran earning the win.
- The Hounds outshot the Bobcats 54-5 while winning 21 of the 25 draw controls.
