OWENSBORO, Ky.— The UIndy softball team upped its win streak to six with a pair of five-inning wins at the Blue Bridge Battle Saturday, hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan College. The seventh-ranked Greyhounds run-ruled Ohio Dominican, 9-0, and Wheeling, 13-2, to move to 9-1 on the season.
Wheeling's two tallies late in game two snapped a string of five consecutive shutouts for the Hounds.

GAME 1 | UIndy 9, ODU 0 (5 innings)
Continuing a recent trend, the Hounds put up a crooked number early, plating four runs in the top of the first. Catcher
Lexy Rees did most of the damage, blasting a three-run bomb to left center.
Â
Freshman
Megan Nichols got in the fun with a two-run single in the second inning, while
Emily O'Connor and Gianni Iannontone later added RBI knocks of their own.
Â
Each of the first four hitters for UIndy recorded two hits, including leadoff
Maddy Stout. She is now 8 for 12 on the season with a team-high 1.087 slugging percentage.
Â
Meanwhile, sophomore ace
Kenzee Smith was true to form, tossing her second shutout in as many starts. She allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out six.
Â
GAME 2 | UIndy 13, Wheeling 2 (5 innings)
Once again UIndy sprinted out of the gate and didn't look back, hanging multiple runs on the board in every half inning. Back-to-back doubles from Rees and
Sydnee Perry in the bottom of the first proved to be the biggest blows, while Nichols added a game-high three hits and two RBIs.
Tara Williams had a pinch-hit RBI single in the third.
Â
Haylie Foster got the win in the circle, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just two hits.
