INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team cruised to victory on Monday night in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament. The sixth-seeded Hounds took down the 11-seed Missouri S&T 87-60 inside Nicoson Hall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams traded three's to open the game but the Hounds never trailed in the contest. Cory Miller Jr. slammed down a dunk midway through the first to give UIndy their first double digit lead of the game. The Hounds went on to tally six dunks on the night.
Dee Montgomery beat the buzzer with a corner three to put UIndy ahead 48-33 at the break. UIndy scored 12 points on the fast break in the first half alone.
The second half opened with a 16-4 run in favor of the Greyhounds to put them ahead by 27. Six players scored in the run led by Julian Steinfeld with five points.
Minutes later UIndy recorded their largest run of the game, outscoring the Miners 13-0 and holding them scoreless on five straight possessions in a three minute span.
The Hounds dominated the paint in the second half, scoring 18 of their 39 points in the paint. A strong defense also held the Miners to just four offensive rebounds in the second half.

-Â Four Hounds scored double figures led by Dee Montgomery (19), Cory Miller Jr. (18), Josiah Tynes (12) and Jakobie Robinson (10).
- Kendrick Tchoua paced the Hounds with 13 rebounds while falling two points short of a double-double.
- UIndy shot 48.5% from the floor to the Miners' 33.3%. The Hounds scored 25 points off of 15 Miner turnovers.

The Hounds head to Edwardsville, IL for the remainder of the GLVC Championship Tournament. UIndy will face the third-seeded Truman State University in Friday's quarterfinal at 9:30 pm ET.
