INDIANAPOLIS- The #7 Greyhound wrestling squad wrapped up its regular season dual slate with a trio of wins in the ARC Saturday as a part of the Greyhound Duals.
UIndy (8-4), which celebrated its five seniors as well Saturday, lost just two matches in the three duals. The Hounds opened the day with a 53-0 rout of Kentucky Wesleyan, followed with a 37-3 win over #9 Findlay, and capped the day's action with a 43-3 win over #T24 Tiffin.Â
UIndy picked up three pins and a tech fall in the dual win against Kentucky Wesleyan, with
Ray Rioux opening action witha pin in 1:17 at 141, with #9
Logan Bailey following with a pin in just 15 seconds at 149, putting the score at 24-0 Hounds less than 10 minutes after the dual started as the Panthers forfeited at 125 and 133. After a win by
Nathan Conley at 157,
Jack Eiteljorge put on a scoring clinic in a 20-2 tech fall in 4:16 at 165.
Andrew Sams then notched his 100th career college win with a pin in 5:39 at 174, and after forfeits by KWC at 184 and 197,
Jay Thompson preserved the Greyhound shutout with a 3-2 win at 285.
Against the Roughnecks,
Noah Cantu opened the dual with a 4-3 win over Zach Collins, with
Breyden Bailey pushing the UIndy lead to 6-0 with an 11-5 decision at 133. After Findlay took it's lone win at 141,
Logan Bailey notched his second pin of the day with a fall in 1:55 at 149 to put the home squad ahead 12-3. Conley followed with his second win of the day at 157, with Eiteljorge adding more bonus points with a major decision at 165. Sams tallied another three team points with a decision at 174, with
Gleason Mappes coming away with a 4-0 decision at 184 to push the score to 25-3 Greyhounds. Findlay forfeited the final two matches of the dual to set the final score at 37-3.
UIndy closed out the day with another decisive win against #T24 Tiffin. The Dragons forfeited to Cantu at 125, with
Breyden Bailey following with a 15-0 tech fall to put UIndy ahead 11-0 after just two weight classes. Rioux picked up his second win of the day at 141, with
Logan Bailey pinning his third opponent of the day in 2:42 at 149. After the Dragons put up their three points at 157,
Wade Monebrake put up a 5-3 win at 165, and Sams tallied his third win of the day with a 17-0 tech fall at 174. Mappes added six more UIndy points with a pin at 184, with #6
Derek Blubaugh closing out the day's action with a 5-4 win over #5 Nick Mason. The Dragons then forfeited to
Cale Gray at 285.
UIndy hosts the Greyhound Open Sunday to close out the regular season, and then gears up for the postseason, which begins Saturday, Feb. 12 with the GLVC Championships. The dual tournament will take place at Lindenwood, with the NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Tournament then looming Feb. 26, also hosted by the Lions.Â
