INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team outscored Lindenwood by 23 points in the second half on Monday night en route to a 83-57 win. Four Hounds scored in double figures as UIndy improved to 12-7 overall and -6-5 in GLVC play. Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds came out firing, taking a 16-6 lead less than five minutes into the game capped off by a three from Jakobie Robinson. UIndy shot an even 50% in the first half to take a 36-33 lead to the break.
Lindenwood scored the first points of the second half to even the score at 36 but the Hounds responded with a 12-2 run of their own. Jesse Bingham accounted for six of those points in the three minute span.
The Lions cut the deficit to one midway thru the second half. The Hounds defense came up big with three straight stops while also scoring on three straight possessions. Kendrick Tchoua sparked the run with a fast break lay up before Dee Montgomery capped it off with a dunk.
A few minutes later Montgomery knocked back a three to give the Hounds their first double digit lead of the game. It was all Hounds from there as they closed the game with a 15-1 run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Hounds recorded a season-low of five turnovers with only one coming in the second half.
- Jesse Bingham flirted with a new season-high, scoring 24 points while shooting 11-of-17.
- Dee Montgomery scored 22 points with 16 coming in the second half. The senior flirted with a double-double, finishing with eight assists.
- Cory Miller Jr. and Kendrick Tchoua paced the Hounds with seven rebounds.
- Jakobie Robinson tabbed three steals.
UP NEXT
UIndy hits the road later this week for a pair of GLVC games. The Hounds travel to Southwest Baptist on Thursday followed by Rockhurst on Saturday.
