WINTER HAVEN, Fla.—The UIndy softball team saw its 15-game winning streak come to a close Tuesday in Florida. The fourth-ranked Greyhounds started the day with a 5-1 win over Saint Anselm before dropping a close decision to Le Moyne, 2-1.

GAME 1 | UIndy 5, Saint Anselm 1
For the second day in a row, the Greyhounds got a game-changing grand slam in the day's opening contest. Less than 24 hours after
Dominique Proctor delivered her first career salami versus Dominican, catcher
Lexy Rees followed suit with a four-run bomb in the fifth inning. The timely blast broke a scoreless tie, plating Sydie Foster ( who earlier singled),
Megan Nichols (single) and
Emily O'Connor (walk) in the process.
Â
The Hounds added another tally in the top of the sixth on an RBI double from Proctor. The Hawks managed to break up the shutout with a single unearned run in the sixth.
Â
Ace
Kenzee Smith upped her pitching record to 10-1 on the year, striking out a career-high 14 in the complete-game win. Nichols finished with a game-high three hits.
Â
Saint Anselm College is the defending NCAA DII East Region champions. It was ranked No. 8 in the preseason coaches poll but is currently outside of the top 25.
Â
GAME 2 | Le Moyne 2, UIndy 1
Tuesday's capper was one of the more exciting games of the season to date. Trailing by two runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Hounds halved the lead with some clutch ABs. O'Connor led things off with a walk and was followed by a two bagger from Rees to put two in scoring position. UIndy broke the seal on a sac fly from Sydnie Perry, scoring pinch runner
Emma Rutan, but ultimately stranded Rees at second.
Â
Still down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Greyhounds had one more chance to tie or win it.
Hanna Burris started the frame with a single to right to put the leadoff hitter aboard. She was sacrificed to second base by S. Foster, but there she would stay as the next two hitters were retired via strikeout.
Â
Haylie Foster (10-1) took the loss in the circle – her first of the year – after giving up two runs and just three hits in 5 1/3 innings.
