Hounds Honor Seniors with Third Conference Win

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In perfect Greyhound fashion, the University of Indianapolis women's lacrosse team honored it's senior class in the best way it knew how – by securing it's third conference win and twelfth overall win in downing Rockhurst 25-5 on Sunday morning in Key Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy scored almost insantly, with Peyton Romig taking a draw control and running it down to put the Hounds up before the first minute of play could conclude. The Hounds wouldn't quit, with the Hawks scoring three in the first quarter – UIndy would match each one with at least two of its own. The Greyhounds ended the first quarter up eight-to-three.

The rest of the half was all Hounds. UIndy posted seven unanswered goals to end the half and didn't stop there. Indianapolis finished with a six game third quarter and a four game fourth.

Abigail Lagos most notably bypassed her 200 career goals in scoring five goals, along with Sarah Klein who scored five of her own and notched an assist. Quinn Malcolm also earned four goals and a pair of assists.

Defensively, Kat Green earned two caused draw controls, and Romig earned 13 draw controls.

SENIOR SEASON
'Winners' was the word that Head Coach James Delaney used to describe the 2022 senior class, referring to the squad's success on and off the field. The 2022 UIndy Women's Lacrosse seniors include: Kara Antonucci, Cassidy King, Jess Soenen, and Caroline Wood.

King played nearly a full sixty in the Greyhounds net in earning the win over the Hawks, posting three saves. King was selected early in the season with IWLCA All-American third team honors, and 2021 IWLCA All-Region Second Team, GLVC First Team and GLVC Goalkeeper of the Year honors, among several different honors throughout her impressive career.

Soenen earned a goal and an assist within todays win. She has a resume that includes 2021 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, two times Academic All-GLVC, and a 2019 All-GLIAC Second Team nod.
