MANHEIM, Pa.- The Greyhound wrestling team, coming off of a sixth place finish at the 2022 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, finished 16th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America team ranking, announced Friday by the Association.
In addition to the 16th place finish as a team, 13 UIndy wrestlers earned individual Scholar All-American honors.
Jack Eiteljorge was named to the NWCA Scholar All-America team for the third time in his career, while
Breyden Bailey,
Nathan Conley,
Wade Monebrake,
Andrew Sams,
Jay Thompson and
Chase Wilkerson were all honored for the second time.
Derek Blubaugh,
Owen Butler,
Hunter Cottingham,
Jackson Hoover,
Aidan Petersen, and
Kyle Saez were all named Scholar All-American for the first time as Greyhounds.Â
The GPA for the 10 UIndy Super Regional starters was 3.197. Drury took the top spot in the 2021-22 team ranking, with its regional starters posting a GPA of 3.542. Seton Hill (3.505), Maryville (3.468), Northern State (3.419) and Lake Erie (3.405) rounded out the top five teams.Â
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II Scholar All-American Team, he must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and 3.0 for those who earned NCAA DII All-American status for the 2022 season. The athlete must also have competed in a minimum of four dates of competition.
