ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The University of Indianapolis women's lacrosse team kicked off conference play when they downed GLVC foe, Lewis, 19-3, on Saturday evening at Lewis Stadium.
The Hounds extend their win streak to four and overall record to 9-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis went up early – holding the Hounds off for the first eight minutes of the game, even scoring first at the 10-minute mark. Then came the Hounds. UIndy was kicked off by
Kylee Manser and
Mackenzie Winn who scored the first two Greyhound goals to end the first quarter tied with the flyers at two.
From there on out it was nearly all Hounds, an eight goal second quarter where both
Quinn Malcolm and
Abigail Lagos scored back-to-back goals, followed by a five goal third would put the Hounds far out of Lewis's reach.
Lagos scored at two goals in the third and fourth quarter as well, ending with six goals. While the Hounds were led by
Quinn Malcolm, who posted six goals and two assists off 15 points.
Defensively, the Hounds forced 18 Lewis turnovers, led by
Mekayla Montgomery who had three caused turnovers, and
Peyton Romig who had 17 draw controls and a goal.
Jamie Rieger led Lewis with two goals and an assist.
Audrey Moran started in the net for the Greyhounds and earned the win, while
Cassidy King wrapped up the second half with two saves.
