Hounds Earn Sweep on Senior Day, Iannantone Sets RBI Record

INDIANAPOLIS—The third-ranked UIndy softball team celebrated Senior Day with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Missouri S&T Saturday, downing the Miners 4-0 and 9-1. Seven seniors were honored before the games, while later in game two, Gianni Iannantone broke the program's career RBI mark.

Iannantone was joined by Hanna Burris, Haylie Foster, Kamrie Foster, Sydnie Foster, Amy Kaniewski and Audrey Sizemore as the pregame honorees. With a combination of four- and five-year seniors, the group has (so far) helped the Hounds to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two GLVC regular season crown and one GLVC Tournament championship.

GAME 1 | UIndy 4, S&T 0
Iannantone got the Greyhounds on the board early, as her first-inning, three-run bomb to straight-away center put UIndy in front.

Sophomore ace Kenzee Smith took care of the rest, authoring her ninth shutout of the year. She moved to 20-3 on the season, striking out 10 and walking only one.

UIndy's final run came in the bottom of the fifth; Dominique Proctor roped a one-out double and came around two batters later on a Lexy Rees single.

Burris added a pair of singles, while S. Foster had a base hit and a stolen base.

GAME 2 | UIndy 9, S&T 1 (6 innings)
Iannantone made history in the bottom of the first. Her clean single to center not only scored Proctor with the game's first run but also gave her career RBI No. 193, surpassing the mark of previous UIndy record holder Taylor Russell (2012-15).

The Miners managed to get that run back with a solo homer in the very next inning. The game remained knocked at 1-1 until UIndy hung a four-spot on the board in both the fifth and sixth frames to pull away and ultimately run-rule its guest.

Game-two starter Haylie Foster got the complete-game win, spinning six innings of one-hit ball while striking out five. She has now allowed just one hit in her last 13 innings in the circle.g
Rees racked up three RBIs in the final two frames, including a two-run double in the fifth. Proctor drove in two with a sixth-inning single.

Each of hte Hounds' first four batters finished with at least two hits. Jocelyn Calvin came off the bench to earn a walk, two steals and a run scored, while Piper Belden chipped in a pinch-hit single and a run in the sixth.
