LEBANON, Ill. – The University of Indianapolis women's lacrosse team concluded an undefeated conference season in defeating McKendree, 17-2, on Sunday in its final regular season match.
The Hounds head into the post season with a 16-1 overall record and a 7-0 conference record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a nearly scoreless first quarter,
Quinn Malcolm took a goal over the Bearcats at the three minute to play mark to put the Hounds up 1-0 to end the quarter.
Then the Greyhounds kicked it into gear, a nine goal second quarter would put the Hounds out of reach, but not stopping there by locking out McKendree in the second half with seven unanswered goals.
With McKendree receiving six yellow cards throughout the match, the Greyhounds were able to put intense pressure on the net in landing 33 shots on goal.
Three Hounds earned hat tricks in
Quinn Malcolm,
Sarah Klein, and
Abigail Lagos in feeding the Hounds offensive power. Klein also dubbed an assist.
Defensively,
Peyton Romig earned 13 draw controls, caused a turnover, and picked up a ground ball.
Audrey Moran and
Cassidy King continued to split time in net, with Moran posting two saves and King earning three.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-UIndy caused 12 turnovers and committed 10.
-The Hounds had 19 draw controls to McKendree's four.
- UIndy received 15 free position attempts.
