INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's lacrosse team kicked off the GLVC championship tournament by downing the four seeded McKendree Bearcats 18-4 on Friday morning on their home turf of Key Stadium.
 
11 Hounds were able to show offensive strength in scoring on the Bearcats.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Peyton Romig was the first to draw blood just under the 12-minute mark in the first, off a quick pass from 
Christina Sato.
 
McKendree was able to keep it within one to end the first but a five goal second quarter would put the Hounds out of reach, followed by an eight goal third.
 
The Greyhounds outshot the Bearcats 35 to 10, led by offensive leaders 
Mackenzie Winn and 
Quinn Malcolm who each earned a hat trick. Winn also earned two assists, along with 
Peyton Romig who served as the top play makers for the Hounds win.
 
GLVC Freshman of the Year, 
Bella Schorr, picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover in leading the Greyhound defense.
 
Cassidy King finished in net for the Hounds earning two saves.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
-UIndy forced 15 McKendree turnovers.
-The Hounds picked up 13 ground balls.
-The Greyhounds had 10 free position attempts to McKendree's two.
 
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will face off against the Lindenwood Lions in the GLVC Championship at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 1 in Key Stadium.
