Greyhounds Lose Tough Contest Against #8 Illinois Springfield

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis baseball team dropped a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest on Friday afternoon at Greyhound Park, falling to the No. 8 Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars by a final of 15-2. With the loss, UIndy drops to 19-23 overall and 10-7 in the GLVC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds put up the first run of the game after Will Spear executed a successful sacrifice bunt in the bottom half of the second inning. However, a three-run homer in the next half inning gave the No. 8-ranked Prairie Stars the advantage. More runs came for UIS in the fourth, fifth, and eighth innings to lock up the win. The Greyhounds garnered their other run on a Drew Donaldson RBI on a fielder's choice in the eighth.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 -UIndy had eight hits while Illinois Springfield managed a game-high 10.
-Brandon DeWitt and Caleb Vaughn each led the team with two hits apiece.
-UIS had three home runs.

The Hounds and Prairie Stars will return to action tomorrow with a doubleheader at Greyhound Park beginning at noon ET.
