INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis Men's Tennis's Edgar Destouet has been named the 2022 Great Lakes Valley Freshman of the Year as released by the conference office on Friday afternoon. While Nikolaj Talimaa repeated as the 2022 GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Nominee.
 
Along with the major awards, Destouet and Talimaa were named to the 2022 All-GLVC team.  
 
Destouet has made an instant impact on the Hounds squad in taking 13 singles wins across the 2022 campaign. The Bordeaux, France native has been paired with primarily Yoann Viel in taking with 14 doubles wins within the season. The freshman received looks early in the season in taking the first GLVC Weekly Award earlier in the season.
 
Talimaa has stepped into a major role within the Hounds roster in the 2022 season, kicking off by going to the finals in the ITA Singles Cup in the tail end of the fall of 2021, Talimaa has been nonstop since. Earning a singles record of 18 wins has earned him a consistent spot within the ITA Top-25 and playing alongside of primarily Zac Faveri and Pedro Franca has secured 13 doubles wins.
 
The GLVC Coach of the Year will be awarded to the winner of the GLVC Championships which take place over the weekend at Maryville University, which kicked off today at 11 a.m. ET.
