HAMMOND, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis baseball team capped off its road trip on Tuesday afternoon with a doubleheader split against the Pride of Purdue Northwest up north in Hammond. The Greyhounds have now won four of their last five contests and sit at 11-15 overall on the season.

GAME 1 | UIndy 5, PWN 1 (7 innings)
The Hounds opened the scoring in the first inning when
Caleb Vaughn hit into and RBI groundout. This one-run advantage was held until the bottom half of the fifth which saw PNW collect one run of its own to tie the game.

It took a huge sixth inning by UIndy to finally jump ahead and grab the victory in Hammond. Â The stretch began when Vaughn brought home two baserunners on a clutch RBI single to center field. Then,
Drew Donaldson successfully hit into a sacrifice fly that scored another. Finally, the Greyhounds added the final run of the game thanks to a throwing error by the Pride.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-UIndy only had a total of three hits while Purdue Northwest had just five as a team.

Carter Nowak picked up the start on the mound and was tabbed as the winning pitcher. He went five complete where he allowed four hits, one walk, and one earned run on one strikeout.

Cameron Ginter finished the game off by pitching two complete, allowing just one hit and two walks.

GAME 2 | PNW 3, UIndy 0
Game two rode as a defensive stalemate into the late stages of play as neither team could muster up a run to fill the scoreboard. Purdue Northwest finally broke the scoreless tie when it tallied a run in the sixth on an RBI single. Building off of that, the Pride produced two more in the seventh and successfully held UIndy scoreless the remainder of the way.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Much like game one, the Greyhounds only accumulated three hits on offense. Purdue Northwest had a game-high eight.
-The trio of Vaughn,
Zack Williams, and
Armen Torosian managed all the UIndy hits from the plate.
-A total of six different pitchers saw the bump in the contest.
Mike MacDougall earned the start and went 3-2/3 innings where he allowed two hits and two walks on two strikeouts.
