Hounds Come Up Short in Playoff Matchup at Pitt State

PITTSBURG, Kan.—The 17th-ranked UIndy football team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling 35-14 at No. 7 Pittsburg State at the NCAA Division II playoffs. In a rematch of last year's first-round matchup, the Greyhounds were within 11 points through three quarters until host Gorillas pulled away in the fourth.

INS & OUTS
UIndy got on the board in the second quarter when Gavin Sukup found Anthony Crowell for a 20-yard touchdown strike to make it 8-7 PSU.

The Greyhound defense came up with a stop on the ensuing Gorilla drive, giving the ball back to the UIndy offense. The Hounds twice moved the chains to creep into PSU territory before being forced to punt.

Pitt State got the ball back with 2:18 left in the half and went on to deliver a touchdown drive as the clock wound down, taking a 15-7 lead into the locker room.

UIndy kept things close through the third quarter, allowing only a field goal in the third stanza. But the Gorillas eventually pulled away with a 17-point fourth quarter.

UIndy added one final score late in the game. The Hounds crafted a 10-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a 15-yard TD rush by Sukup.

INSIDE THE BOX
