MANHEIM, Pa. – A new National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) poll is here and the University of Indianapolis wrestling team has matched their best-ever ranking, coming in at No. 3 behind seven wrestlers appearing in the individual rankings.
Â
The top two ranked Greyhounds have not changed, with
Cale Gray staying at No. 1 at heavyweight and
Derek Blubaugh at No. 2 for 197. Entering the top three of the individual rankings is
Dawson Combest, who after battling injury all of last season, will make his return as the No. 3-ranked wrestler at 157.
Â
Also making a new appearance in the NWCA rankings is
Owen Zablocki, who after an electric start to the season at 165, will land at No. 11.
Aidan Petersen also makes his debut at No. 12 in the 184 class.
Â
Ray Rioux, after a dominant performance at the
Findlay Open just a few weeks ago, will climb the 141 leaderboards to No. 8 from his previous 11th-place spot.
Owen Butler is the only Greyhound to see a drop, but not too far, going from sixth to seventh this time around.
Â
The Hounds will return to the mat next at the 44th Midwest Classic in just two weeks.
