INS AND OUTS
Rebounding from a doubles point loss to Washburn; the Greyhounds were in form against the Bearcats. No. 3 doubles was the first to finish, featuring the duo of
Nikolaj Talimaa and
Jason Gerweck. For Gerweck and Talimaa, a 4-0 lead early in the match was all they needed to put that one away. The No. 1-ranked
Tom Zeuch and
Edgar Destouet were dominant as ever, scorching to a 4-1 lead in the match. Their SBU foes, fought back however, bringing it to 5-3 before the ITA Cup champs delt the finishing blow, just four minutes after Gerweck and Talimaa had finished.
Erwan Momo Andre and
Louis Picaud in No. 2 doubles faced a little bit more pushback in their match. The match was a back-and-forth battle with both teams locked at 3-3. Back to back game wins by Picaud and Momo opened the door for the Hound pairing, but the SBU Cats refused to quit, evening it up at 5-5 once again. Just as they did before, a pair of serves by the Hounds iced the match.
Picaud kept his wins going into singles, being the first to victory, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win out of the No. 4 slot. In his first set Picaud fought off wins by his SBU opponent, having trailed 3-1 early in the match, eventually evening an taking the set. There was no SBU lead in set two however, with Picaud putting his foot on the gas and never letting up.
Within a minute of each other, Destouet and Zeuch, at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively, turned a 2-0 lead for the Hounds into 4-0 match win. No. 28 Zeuch fought off a close first set but took no chances in his second, winning 6-0. For Destouet it was more even dominance, winning 6-3, 6-2.
