INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis men's tennis team is not only competing in the prestigious ITA DII National Men's Team Indoor Championship, but they are also playing the host school for the second year in a row.
The tournament that features eight of the best teams from all across the country takes place in the Hounds own UIndy Tennis Center. The Greyhounds open the tournament on Friday as the No. 8 seed, matching up with the reigning DII National Champions Barry in the first round. The first matches of the Hounds and Buccaneers will kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Besides the No. 7-ranked Hounds and the No. 1 Buccaneers, the field features, No. 2 Columbus State, No. 3 St. Leo, No. 4 Flagler, No. 5 Wayne State and No. 9 Hawaii Pacific.
The Greyhounds enter the tournament 6-0 on the season, having beaten tournament team Hawaii Pacific on
Wednesday afternoon, and a week removed from another ranked battle in which the Hounds came out on top against
Washburn. In singles the Greyhounds are led by
Nikolaj Talimaa, who is a perfect 6-0 on the season in the No. 3 slot.
Edgar Destouet and
Tom Zeuch both come in at 5-0 in the top two spots on Hounds lineup. For doubles, to very little surprise, the No. 1 doubles pairing in the country in Zeuch and Destouet have been magical together, going a perfect 6-0 to start the season.
