GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – No. 7 UIndy men's tennis were dominate this weekend, just 24 hours removed from a 7-0 sweep of Grand Valley State, the Greyhounds followed it up with a 4-0 route of the Ferris State Bulldogs. The win moved them to 3-0 on the season, having given up zero team points.
INS AND OUTS
The phrase "doubles dominance," continues to ring true for the men's team in the early spring, as two matches were all that were needed for the Hounds to secure the point. The pair of
Edgar Destouet and
Tom Zeuch, as is common, set the tone, winning 6-4.
Erwan Momo Andre and
Louis Picaud replicated that with a 6-4 of their own to ice the doubles point.
Picaud kept the 6-4 theme running in singles, with the Dijon, France-native winning in two 6-4 sets. Zeuch was equally dominant, especially in his first set in which he won 6-1. His Bulldog adversary fought back in set two but it was to no avail as the 6-foot-4 Zeuch, fittingly, won 6-4.
To end the evening, and to send the Greyhounds home clean on the weekend,
Nikolaj Talimaa picked up a victory in the No. 3 singles spot. His first set kept with the theme of the evening, as Talimaa won 6-4. He reversed Zeuch's score with a 6-1 second set win, securing the match for the Greyhounds.
HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Malik Tabet on his team over the weekend…
"The men's team came in with some very high energy, and carried it through the whole match, doubles and singles. It's a tricky place to play at, Ferris State; the surface is extremely fast and it's a complete change from what we played at versus Grand Valley. That was a big adjustment for everyone."
