DALLAS – The University of Indianapolis baseball team is now gracing the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 poll after a 11-0 start to their spring. The Hounds arrive at No. 21, sporting an undefeated streak that is the best start to a season since 1997.*
 
Alongside the Greyhounds, the GLVC has two more schools in the top-25, with Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars and the Quincy Hawks both in the poll. UIS sits at No. 5 after a 14-4 start while Quincy is closer to the Hounds at 15 with a 11-3 mark.

Regionally the Hounds third in the midwest, sitting behind UIS and Quincy. 
 
Through the teams first 11 contests, the bats have been explosive for the Hounds, averaging 10.4 runs per game while limiting the opposition to just 3.7. Drew Donaldson has been electric to start his season with a slash line of .468/538/.702 for a 1.230 OPS, having a team leading 22 hits on a pair of doubles and a trio of triples.
 
Aside from Donaldson, the Hounds have hit well one through nine with Brandon DeWitt and Caleb Vaughn both carrying averages above .400 with Vaughn getting on base 53 percent of the time while notching a team leading five doubles. Nick Lukac, despite missing the Notre Dame College series, has been swinging the bat exceptionally well as the Hounds third basemen, with six of his 14 hits so far going for extra bases.
 
Pitching has seen a trio of Greyhounds starters take majority of the innings with Logan Peterson being the leader in ERA so far with 1.86 in 19.1 innings pitched. DeWitt is right behind him with a 2.55 ERA. Seth Spencer, a newcomer to the Hounds, is the strikeout leader with the hard-throwing southpaw nabbing 32 so far in his three starts.
 
The Hounds kick off conference tomorrow at Grand Park versus the Maryville Saints.
