GREENWOOD, Ind. – UIndy baseball standout
Austin Bode was named to the 2026 Academic All-America® First Team, it was announced Tuesday. Selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the annual list recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for his combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Bode was one of only five repeat winners on this year's list and just the second two-time honoree in program history (Matthew Kaplanis 2015-16)
Bode capped an impressive collegiate career this spring with a record-breaking campaign. As the primary leadoff hitter and dominant offensive force for the Greyhounds, he set new single-season program marks for runs, RBIs, walks and total bases. Statistically, he finished in the top 10 in Division II in bases on balls (3rd), runs scored (6th) and runs driven in (10th).
A native of Columbus, Ind., Bode racked up a number of postseason awards, including
All-America Second Team from the ABCA,
Midwest Region Player of the Year from the region's College Sports Communicators, and
GLVC Player of the Year from the league's coaches. He and he Greyhound teammate
hoisted the NCAA DII Midwest Region trophy on the way to the team's third
World Series appearance in the last four years.
