ST. LOUIS – Redshirt senior,
Austin Bode, earned the D2CCA Player of the Year honors it was announced in a release Monday. Bode became the first player in Greyhound program history to tout the honors as the D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year, and is only the third All-Region major award winner across all organizations.
Xavier Rosas in 2022 with the
ABCA Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year and the
D2CCA Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year, and
Donovan Drake with the ABCA Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year in 2012 are the only two other Greyhounds to receive major All-Region honors.
Bode has been slashing the ball at will all season, as he continues to lead the Greyhounds in multiple hitting categories including; batting average (.408), doubles (18), hits (89), runs (81), triples (7), home runs (19), RBIs (76), walks (50), slugging percentage (.817), OPS (.527) and total bases (176). The only hitting category he is tied with is in walks with
Brayton Bowen, who also has been walked 50 times this season.
Bode also made an appearance on the D2CCA All-Region first-team, and is joined by the likes of his teammate,
Chase Mason, who claimed his first All-Region honors in his time as a Greyhound. Mason has slashed an impressive .336 in the batters box, while driving in 55 runs on 75 hits and getting on base at .456 clip.
Bode and Mason along with their D2CCA All-Region honors, also were recognized on the NCBWA All-Region first and second teams in was announced today. Bode garnered his second straight NCBWA All-Region nod, while Mason claimed his first for the Greyhounds
All 16 first-team All-Region selections for the D2CCA, including Bode will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America Consideration. The All-America teams are scheduled to be released later this month.
