AUSTIN, Texas—The
reigning national champions received some more good news Tuesday, as the UIndy men's swimming & diving team added three Academic All-Americans to its growing list of accolades.
Cade Hammond (first team),
Cedric Buessing (second team) and
Diego Mas (second team) were each named to the 2022-23 Academic All- America® Team, selected by annually by College Sports Communicators based on combined performance in the pool and in the classroom.
Cade Hammond earned his second straight AAA nod, earning first-team accolades in consecutive years. The Brighton, Mich., native became a seven-time All-America this spring, earning third place on the 1-meter board and sixth on the 3-meter.
Cedric Buessing, meanwhile, had one of the program's best-ever performances at Nationals. The German phenom won the national title in the 1000 free and finished with five All-America awards, three runner-up performances and four school records.
Finally, veteran speedster
Diego Mas was part of three All-America relay teams, including the Hounds' national-title-winning 200 FR. He also took third place in the 50 free race with a time on 19.32 – the fastest 50 time ever by a Greyhound.
