Fiery Tritons Shock Greyhounds, Top Seed Bows Out of GLVC Tourney

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The No. 7 UIndy men's basketball (26-4) bowed out of the GLVC Championship Tournament on Saturday, falling to fifth-seeded Missouri-St. Louis (21-9) by a score of 82-56.

Trailing by just six at halftime, the Greyhounds failed to keep up with the potent Triton offense in the final 20 minutes.

Josiah Tynes led the team with 15 points, while Jesse Bingham finished with 12 points and three blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tynes cut the first-half deficit to three with a driving layup late in the opening half before hitting a pair of free throws to get the Hounds within six at the break.

The second half was all Tritons. The fifth seed in this year's league tournament, Missouri-St. Louis showed out for the second straight game, shooting 55.5 percent against the Greyhound defense. The Tritons forced 13 UIndy turnovers, scoring 20 points off miscues.

Missouri-St. Louis limited UIndy center Kendrick Tchoua, holding the GLVC Player of the Year to just four points. The big man did, however, lead all players with nine rebounds, including four on the offensive end.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- David Ejah turned in six points, hitting a pair of 3-pointers in nearly 10 minutes of action.
- Another Greyhound reserve, Jarvis Walker, finished with seven points and six boards off the bench.
- The Tritons led for nearly 31 minutes, leading by as many as 33 late in the second half.
- Bingham led the Hounds with three blocks, as the team recorded six. Julian Steinfeld tallied two in 13+ minutes.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach Paul Corsaro…
"We just got out-toughed. We have three simple keys and it doesn't take talent or xs-and-os. We have to rebound both sides of the ball; we have to finish each possession with a shot and we certainly didn't do that; and we need to not allow middle drives and UMSL got to the middle each possession."

MORE NOTES
UIndy now leads the all-time series, 26-12, but has lost six of the last seven meetings … UIndy was ranked No. 1 in the final Midwest Regional rankings of the regular season, while Missouri-St. Louis was third … Triton graduate student Bowen Sandquist finished with a game-high 30 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the floor and eight-of-11 from 3-point range ... Missouri-St. Louis' 82 points is the most UIndy has allowed in a game this season.
