INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Midwest Region will run through Indianapolis with the Greyhounds being awarded the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the for first and second rounds of the 2023 NCAA DII Men's Tennis Championship. The Greyhounds earned an automatic bid to this year's bracket after claiming their first
GLVC title since 2019 in a dominant 4-1 victory over fellow-tournament-team Southwest Baptist.
Appearing in their 16th NCAA tournament, the Greyhounds are going to have a familiar foe in the first round, battling a GLVC adversary in McKendree, who went 12-5 this season. The Hounds were one of those five losses, handing the Bearcats a 7-0 loss to end the regular season. Ferris St. (15-4) and Tiffin (20-2) make up the other side of the Indianapolis portion of the Midwest bracket.
Outside of the Hounds, Wayne State will play the hosts on the other side of the Midwest, with two other GLVC schools lined up to visit the Motor City. The aforementioned SBU Bearcats, who land as the No. 3-seed with a matchup against Grand Valley State, while Drury enters an uphill battle facing the host in Wayne State.
All matches are set to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind. More details will be announced as they become available. Stay tuned to UIndyAthletics.com for a full preview later this week.
