INDIANAPOLIS — University of Indianapolis Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Greg Shaheen announced Wedneday that
Kelli Beheler has been named the new head coach for the UIndy women's soccer program, removing the short-lived interim tag that was placed in May.
"As our soccer program continued to make progress through the Spring and gauging input from our student-athletes and colleagues, permanently elevating Kelli to this post is deserved and consistent with our commitment to continuing to build programs with leadership that attracts current and future students to reach their potential in every way," said Shaheen.
Beheler assumed broader responsibilities following the conclusion of the 2022 regular season, such as planning and managing the program through the winter and spring periods. Prior to being named the interim head coach, Beheler served as an assistant coach for the program since last fall and was instrumental in guiding
Maria Herrero and
Kiki Sauceda to All-GLVC Second Team honors. Saucedda also earned Academic All-District recognition from College Sports Communicators.
Beheler joined the UIndy women's soccer staff prior to the 2022 campaign after previously serving as an assistant coach at IUPUI for two seasons and as a graduate assistant at Albany State in 2019. Beheler helped guide Thuto Ramafifito All-Peach Belt Second Team distinction while at ASU.
"I am honored to be named the Head Coach and have the continued support from the administration," said Beheler. "I am excited to proceed with the legacy that is the Greyhound Women's Soccer Program."
Prior to coaching, Beheler was a standout player at Illinois State where she earned All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team honors in 2016 and 2017. She earned MVC Freshman of the Year distinction in 2014 as a Redbird.
Beheler finished her career with 83 appearances and 72 starts, totaling 17 goals and 17 assists and finishing eighth on ISU's all-time list with 51 points.
She later signed to play professionally with Domsjö IF in Sweden.
