INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's basketball team returned to the win column on Thursday night with a 69-64 come-from-behind victory over Missouri-St. Louis in Nicoson Hall. The Greyhounds forged a 20-3 run in a span of eight-plus minutes down the stretch to pull off the comeback.
Â
Paul Zilinskas scored a career-high 24 points, including 13 in the second half. Meanwhile,
Kendrick Tchoua ran the show down in the paint, finishing with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was an incredible run for more than eight minutes late in the second half, a dunk from Tchoua sparking the 20-3 Greyhound spurt. Zilinskas drilled three of his six triples in that time, giving UIndy the lead for good.
Â
Jesse Bingham and
David Ejah joined in on the fun with a couple minutes remaining, as each drilled their lone 3-pointer of the contest. Missouri-St. Louis did not concede despite the 10-point deficit with just 42 seconds remaining. Mayson Quartlebaum and Matt Enright hit consecutive triples to get back within one possession before
Jarvis Walker sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
Â
The first half witnessed a crazy comeback by the Greyhounds, as well, who trailed by 10 with less than five minutes left before the break. It was the same culprits, as Tchoua and Zilinskas combined for 11 of the team's 13 points to knot the game at 33 apiece at halftime.
