PEMBROKE, N.C. — University of Indianapolis senior second baseman
Drew Donaldson has been selected as a NCBWA Preseason First Team All-American, as announced on Friday. This comes after the Greyhounds were selected at
No. 6 nationally and No. 1 in the region by the NCBWA earlier this week.
Â
This honor for Donaldson comes after a historic 2023 campaign where he took home ABCA/Rawlings, NCBWA and D2CCA First Team All-American honors. Alongside those distinctions, Donaldson came home with the Perfectgame.org DII Most Valuable Player for his efforts last year.
Â
Individually, the Greyhound's second baseman played all sixty games for the Hounds last year, starting every contest at second base and holding down the No. 2 spot in the lineup. In that spot he was dangerous, carrying an OPS of 1.192 with 21 doubles, seven triples and ten bombs. Throughout the season he set the single season record for runs and total bases while fighting for the hits record, landing him in second place in program history for single-season hits. That hits mark landed him seventh in the nation at the end of the season.
