Defensive Prowess Continues in Seventh Straight Win

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's basketball team won its seventh straight game on Saturday afternoon, downing visiting Maryville from inside Nicoson Hall by a score of 74-52. The Greyhounds have now won three consecutive matchups with the Saints and improve to 13-3 in the all-time series.

UIndy has now held its opponent to 52 or less points four times this season, while limiting the visitors to a season-best 29.0 field-goal percentage.

Jesse Bingham and Paul Zilinskas shared the top spot in the scoring column, each finishing with 15 points. Senior David Ejah joined his teammates in double figures, totaling 13 in 22 minutes.

INS & OUTS
The Hounds led for nearly 33 minutes on Saturday, with a Julian Steinfeld offensive putback at the 12:11 mark officially giving his team the lead for good. It was Zilinskas who carried UIndy offensively in the first half, as the junior scored 13 of his 15 before the break.

The lead grew to as much as 28 with 4:09 remaining following Josiah Tynes' third triple of the afternoon. Moments before, however, Steinfeld and Zilinskas joined forces to provide the highest thrill against the Saints with an alley-oop slam on the fast break.

Bingham came alive in the final 20 minutes, scoring 10 points on four field goals. The senior also finished with two thefts and sits just one away from becoming the first Greyhound in program history to record 100 blocks and 100 steals.

INSIDE THE BOX
- UIndy ran away with the win, scoring 11 points on the fast break – all in the second half.
- After a paltry 8-for-15 effort from the charity stripe on Wednesday, six Hounds combined to sink 13 on 15 tries against Maryville.
- Ejah and Steinfeld each secured a game-high eight rebounds, while Kendrick Tchoua added six on the glass.
- The Greyhounds forced 14 turnovers in the win, holding the Saints to 29.0 percent shooting and 20.8 percent clip from deep.
- Tynes dished out five assists, matching his season-high from the opener against Parkside on Nov. 10.

ON ANOTHER NOTE
Dylan Ingram squared off against his former team, tallying one assist, one block, and one rebound in 12+ minutes.

UP NEXT
UIndy looks to stay hot next weekend, as it travels to the barbecue capital of the Midwest to face Rockhurst on Thursday for an 8:30 ET tip. The Greyhounds bested the Hawks last season in KCMO, 67-60, and have won seven of the past eight meetings.
