Greyhounds and Prairie Stars Clash to a 0-0 Draw

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's soccer team tied with Illinois-Springfield 0-0 on Friday night.

This is the first time the Greyhounds have tied a match since their 2023 GLVC championship duel against UIS, a game in which UIndy eventually went on to win in penalties. This game saw a combined 26 fouls, 13 by each team. These fouls went along with six total cards, 5 yellows and one red card.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds started quick in the first half with a handful of chances. The Hounds had three goals disallowed by offsides in the first 25 minutes, two from Lucas Bedleg and a header by Bobby Turner.

The first half took a turn though when in the 26th minute, UIndy head coach Gabe Hall received a straight red card from the referee.

UIS took advantage of the momentum by creating chances of their own the rest of the half, with the biggest chance coming in the 39th minute when the Prairie Stars Or Levinstein broke away to goal and forced a huge save from Ionas Giovanidis to keep the score level at zero.

The next best chance for UIS came just six minutes later when Delphy Sabu's header just missed above the crossbar of the goal, keeping the score 0-0 as the teams headed to the half.

UIndy gained back the momentum early in the second half with seven shots including one on target from Kabiru Gafar, but they were unable to break through and get a goal.

Alvaro Sanchez produced the best effort of the second half in the 77th minute with an off-target attempt that missed just wide of the net, keeping the score deadlocked.

With very few chances the rest of the way the score finished 0-0 between UIndy and the Prairie Stars.
