Greyhound Trio Set Career Highs Against Jewell

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's volleyball team defeated William Jewell in a five-set showdown in Ruth Lilly Fitness Center on Friday evening, stretching its win streak to 12 for the first time in 12 years. The Greyhounds are now 3-0 to open GLVC play for the first time since 2018.
 
Redshirt-junior Claire Morris had a monster night on the floor, dishing out a career-high 61 assists. Morris also scooped 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the fall.
 
INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds and Cardinals traded sets leading to a thriller of a fifth frame. The two teams exchanged the lead four times, with the score tied on seven occasions in that deciding game. The Greyhounds attacked at a .400 clip, with four kills coming from senior Sophia Parlanti. Trailing 12-10, UIndy rattled off five consecutive points to earn the victory. Madeline Lynch provided the final two kills, marking the second straight Friday in which the freshman put the exclamation point on the five-set triumph.
 
Parlanti tallied a career-best 24 kills in the match, incluidng seven in each of the third and fourth sets. The senior hit for.259 on the night, adding five digs and five blocks.
 
Sophomore Maddie Berger joined in on the fun, posting a career-high 19 kills on .515 hitting. The sophomore committed just two errors during the contest out of 33 attempts.
 
On defense, freshman Kelsey McKenney had a career-high of nine block assists, while sophomore libero Ellie Spang led the team with 16 digs.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
- Lynch finished with a season-high 16 kills, hitting .216 from the outside.
- As a team, the Greyhounds attacked at a .285 clip, amassing 72 kills, their most in a match since December 2019 against Hillsdale.
- Senior Lauren Peal totaled 15 digs during the five-set battle, while Macy Bruton chipped in 12.
- Five different Hounds picked up aces during the match, including Riley Laine, Bruton, and Spang, along with the rookies Mia Moser and Lynch.
 
MORE NOTES
UIndy remains undefeated against William Jewell in the all-time series at 13-0 ... Cardinal Bella LePorta had 29 kills during the contest, hitting .323. 
 
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return to Ruth Lilly Fitness Center tomorrow for a matchup against Rockhurst, which dropped a five-setter at Lewis on Friday evening. Action is slated for 3 p.m.
